South African music producer and Jazzworx member, GL Ceejay, has opened up about a terrifying incident in which he was kidnapped and robbed. The traumatic ordeal left him shaken, but grateful to have made it out alive.
The producer recounted how he was lured under false pretenses to meet someone for business purposes. Upon arrival, he was ambushed, forced into a vehicle, and taken to an unknown location where he was held for several hours. During the ordeal, his belongings were stolen, and he was threatened by the assailants.
Speaking out after the incident, GL Ceejay described the experience as deeply traumatic. He said that while the material loss was significant, the psychological impact of the kidnapping was far worse. Despite this, he expressed gratitude for his safety and thanked his family, friends, and fans for their support.
The producer urged others in the industry to be cautious when meeting with unfamiliar individuals, especially under informal arrangements. He also called for improved safety measures and awareness within the creative sector.
While recovering from the experience, GL Ceejay has indicated that he will be taking time to process the incident and prioritise his well-being before fully returning to work.
