In a strong display of community support and swift action, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) team in Mthatha distributed food parcels and essential supplies to 680 households yesterday. These families were among those hardest hit by the recent devastating floods that swept through parts of the Eastern Cape.
The initiative forms part of the UDMβs R300,000 relief fund, launched to assist flood-affected communities across the province. Volunteers worked across multiple areas, ensuring that much-needed aid β including food staples, hygiene products, and basic essentials β reached those in urgent need.
As recovery efforts continue, the UDM says it remains committed to supporting vulnerable households and rebuilding hope in the wake of destruction.
