Authorities in Winburg have made two arrests following the discovery of a deceased 30-year-old man in an open field in Makeleketla on the morning of Monday, 30 June 2025. The man was found unresponsive at the scene, and emergency personnel later confirmed his passing.
Police were called out at approximately 08h00 and secured the area for investigation. According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Sergeant Palesa Thaba, officers were able to identify a potential suspect, a 29-year-old man, later that day. He was taken in for questioning after officers noticed his clothing appeared to be linked to the incident.
A second individual, aged 27, was brought into custody the following day as part of the ongoing inquiry. Both men have been formally charged and are expected to appear in the Winburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case and have encouraged anyone with further information to come forward. The local community has expressed concern, while police assure residents that they are working diligently to bring clarity and resolution to the matter.
