Suspect in Murder of Former Ekurhuleni Auditor Mpho Mafole Appears in Court

A 40-year-old man linked to the murder of former City of Ekurhuleni Chief Municipal Auditor Mpho Mafole is appearing in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court today. His arrest, carried out on July 20th by Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives, marks a key development in the ongoing investigation.

Mafole was murdered under circumstances that sparked widespread concern over the safety of public officials involved in exposing corruption.

Police have confirmed that the hunt continues for a second suspect, identified as Hlanganani Agripper Mncwango, who remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Mncwango’s whereabouts to come forward.

The case continues to draw national attention, with many calling for swift justice and greater protection for whistleblowers and municipal officials.
