A chilling discovery has stunned the Hazyview community and raised serious security concerns after the decomposing body of an unidentified man was found on the roof of the local police station in Mpumalanga.
For weeks, police officers and residents had complained about a persistent foul smell around the station, initially believed to be from a dead animal. But on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, after roof tiles were removed during a deeper search, authorities uncovered a disturbing truthβthe lifeless, decomposed body of a man.
Due to poor lighting, the recovery of the body was delayed until the following day, June 26. Early investigations suggest the man may have died from electrocution, with tools found near him pointing to a suspected attempt at cable theft.
The man’s identity remains unknown, and police have opened an inquest to determine the exact cause of death. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has launched a parallel investigation, given the body was discovered on official premises.
As authorities appeal to the public for help in identifying the deceased, the incident has not only shocked the community but also raised alarming questions about safety and surveillance at the police facility.
