The long-running Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been postponed once again, with proceedings now scheduled to resume on Thursday, 19 June 2025, at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
This latest delay arises from a request by the defense for accused number three, Mthobisi Mncube, to undergo a dental examination—specifically to verify whether he had a gold tooth in 2014, the year the Bafana Bafana captain was killed.
Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng approved the request, granting time for the state to respond with feedback on quotations from a private dental surgeon to conduct the examination.
The dental issue has become a focal point for the defense, as it could potentially challenge witness descriptions and identification of the accused.
The repeated delays have continued to frustrate observers and the Meyiwa family, as the high-profile case—now nearly 11 years old—remains unresolved.
