Queen Khazeka, born Nolubabalo Mcinga, the estranged wife of AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo and former Member of Parliament for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has officially resigned from the party. She has joined the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, citing alignment with her principles and values.
Speaking to ZiMoja, Mcinga emphasised that her resignation was not due to pressure or controversy but a personal decision to pursue a new direction. “Resigning from any position is a normal and acceptable choice, whether for greener pastures, dissatisfaction, or the need for a new direction,” she said.
While Mcinga praised the EFF’s mission, she pointed to issues with its internal communication culture. “I deeply respect the EFF as an organisation and the values the CIC is trying to represent internally,” she added.
Mcinga dismissed allegations of improper hiring by Floyd Shivambu without checking her credentials, calling them baseless. She credited her active grassroots campaigning during the lead-up to the May 2024 elections for her appointment. “In the areas I worked, there was a significant increase in votes for the EFF, especially in Buffalo City Metro Municipality and Dr Beyers Naudé District Municipality,” she said.
Mcinga confirmed her transition to the MK Party, describing it as a natural step aligned with her vision. “The MK Party’s culture emphasizes freedom and respect, which I found lacking in my previous environment,” she explained.
She rejected claims that her EFF membership was tied to her royal status. Instead, she highlighted the hostility she faced after her resignation, saying it affirmed her decision to leave. “The mockery and hostility faced by anyone leaving the EFF only confirm my decision to move on. Freedom means being able to make choices without fear or intimidation.”
Mcinga also cited the MK Party’s principles of respect and unity, values she felt were upheld by leaders such as former President Jacob Zuma. “Unlike the oppressive dynamics I experienced, the MK Party values respect and unity. I feel empowered and free to continue my work in advancing the cause of our people,” she said.
Mcinga’s departure adds to the growing list of high-profile individuals leaving the EFF, including figures such as Floyd Shivambu, Dali Mpofu, and Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Her resignation highlights ongoing tensions within the party, particularly around its internal culture and treatment of dissenting voices.
As Queen Khazeka embarks on her political journey with the MK Party, she continues to advocate for her vision of freedom and respect in leadership, reinforcing her commitment to advancing the interests of the people.
