Democratic Alliance MP Karabo Khakhau is refusing to let the removal of former Higher Education Minister Dr Nobuhle Nkabane mark the end of the road for accountability. Speaking firmly on the matter, Khakhau insists that Parliament must continue to pursue the truth behind the allegations of misconduct levelled against Nkabane.
“Her exit from office doesn’t mean justice has been served,” Khakhau said, emphasizing that political consequences should not erase the need for legal and ethical scrutiny. She urged Parliament to stand firm in its oversight role and send a clear message that no official is above the law — regardless of rank or resignation.
Khakhau’s call underscores growing pressure on government institutions to confront corruption decisively, even after a public official has been removed from office. “If we retreat now, we weaken Parliament’s power to uphold transparency and integrity,” she warned.
As questions continue to swirl around Nkabane’s tenure, Khakhau and the DA are making it clear: stepping down does not mean stepping away from accountability.
