In a bold move responding to public outrage, Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson has confirmed that his office will report Tebogo Malaka’s conduct to the police. The minister has officially opened a criminal case against Malaka, the CEO of the Independent Development Trust (IDT), along with her spokespersonβ€”who is already suspended due to involvement in a separate tender corruption scandal.

Caught on camera, Malaka and Phasha Makgolane attempted to bribe investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh, known for exposing alleged corruption within the IDT. The IDT plays a crucial role as the government’s agency responsible for implementing infrastructure projects for social services.

This development highlights the growing crackdown on corruption within key public institutions. Minister Macpherson’s decisive action sends a clear message that corrupt practices, especially those undermining the vital work of investigative journalism, will not be tolerated.
