Police in Mpumalanga are investigating the tragic murder of Dr. Ezrom Mathumbu, a prominent pastor, in what is believed to be a targeted hit. The incident occurred while Mathumbu was driving on the R536 Road near Cork Trust, between Mkhulu and the Kruger National Park in the Bushbuckridge Municipality.
According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the pastorβs vehicle, a Toyota GD06 bakkie, was shot at multiple times by occupants of another vehicle that pulled up alongside him. Despite the immediate response from paramedics, Mathumbu was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Mathumbu, who was also a popular radio presenter on Munghana Lonene FM and a member of Action SA, is remembered by many in his community for his work and leadership. Now, police are appealing to the public for help in identifying the gunmen responsible.
βWe urge anyone with any information to contact the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or to use the MYSAPSAPP. All tips will be treated confidentially, and informants may remain anonymous,β Mdhluli added.
