In a courtroom twist that raised eyebrows, alleged diamond scammer Louis Liebenberg has refused to address the magistrate as “Your Worship,” claiming it conflicts with his religious beliefs that only God should be worshipped.

Liebenberg, who faces charges related to a multi-million rand diamond investment scheme, objected to the traditional courtroom title during proceedings—insisting it clashes with his faith and personal convictions.

Despite his protest, the term “Your Worship” remains a longstanding and formal designation for magistrates in South African courts, with deep legal tradition behind its usage.

While the court acknowledged his objection, proceedings continued, with legal experts noting that personal beliefs do not override established judicial protocol.
