Police in Mahwelereng, located in Limpopo’s Waterberg District, are urgently searching for 12-year-old Lily Ditshego Sepoloane, who went missing on Sunday after leaving her home in Polar Park. According to her mother, Lily had initially gone to attend a church service at Ga-Madiba village. Afterward, she returned home with other children, changed her clothes, and reportedly went to her aunt’s house in Mokopane Extension 14. However, Lily has not been seen since, and she did not return home that day.

A search was launched across the local area, with family members and police scouring nearby relatives’ homes and other surrounding spots, but they have so far had no success in locating her. Warrant Officer Marobo Seabela confirmed that the police are still investigating the case and are appealing to the public for any information that could help them find the young girl. At present, the specific details of what Lily was wearing at the time of her disappearance are unknown, which could further assist in identifying her whereabouts.

Authorities have encouraged anyone who may have seen Lily or has information about her disappearance to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Patrick Mogoane, at 072 245 2659. Alternatively, tips can be submitted through Crime Stop at 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or the My SAPS App. The search continues as police work to uncover the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

This latest incident comes just months after another tragic case in the Vhembe District. In September, the body of a 12-year-old girl was discovered in the bushes near Ha-Ravele Village after she went missing while selling vegetables in her neighborhood. Police investigations suggested the girl had been strangled, and preliminary reports indicated that she had been seen walking with an unknown African male before her death. The case shocked the community and underscored the alarming trend of missing children in the region, leaving many concerned about the safety of young girls in the area.

As the search for Lily Sepoloane intensifies, residents of Mahwelereng and surrounding villages are on edge, hoping for a positive resolution to this unsettling case. The local community, already deeply affected by the earlier tragedy, is calling for swift justice and stronger measures to ensure the safety of children in their area.
