Mduduzi Mnisi Returns to Court in Likhona Fose Murder Case — Bail Hearing Set for June 18

Mduduzi Mnisi, the man accused in the gruesome murder of 14-year-old Likhona Fose, appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court today. His case has been postponed to June 18, 2025, for a formal bail application.

The state has confirmed it will oppose bail, citing the severity of the charges and the ongoing investigation into the brutal and deeply disturbing killing that has outraged communities across the country.

A Nation in Mourning and Shock

Likhona Fose’s mutilated body was discovered on June 1 in a bush in Durban Deep, Roodepoort. The case has sparked widespread public outrage, with community leaders, civil groups, and citizens calling for swift justice and harsher penalties for violent crimes against children.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Occult-Related Crimes Unit has been leading the investigation, with the nature of the crime prompting speculation around ritualistic elements.

Justice in Focus

Mnisi’s upcoming bail hearing is expected to draw significant public attention, with many anticipating a strong stance from the judiciary in light of the brutal facts surrounding the case. Victims’ rights organizations have urged authorities to ensure justice is neither delayed nor denied.
