A bizarre incident has led to a 24-year-old man, Thomas Zwiafana Nethavhani, being remanded in custody for allegedly robbing G4S guards of an empty cash-in-transit money carrier. Nethavhani appeared before the Mutale Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo, facing four charges related to cash-in-transit crime.
According to the Hawks, Nethavhani and his accomplice confronted the G4S guard, pointing firearms at him and stealing an empty cross-pavement carrier, a firearm, and 14 rounds of ammunition. The suspects also fired three shots at the G4S truck and escaped in a red BMW.

The Hawks investigation led to the recovery of the stolen carrier and linked Nethavhani to the crime through DNA evidence. He was arrested during a disruptive operation called “Robust tracing” and is being held in police custody until his next court appearance on Wednesday. Nethavhani faces charges of cash-in-transit robbery, defeating the ends of justice, conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravating circumstances, and attempted murder.
