Malema Condemns Israel, Defends Iran’s Right to Retaliate Amid Middle East Tensions
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has taken a strong stance in the escalating Middle East conflict, condemning Israel’s military actions in Gaza as apartheid and genocide, while pledging unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
In a recent statement, Malema accused Israel of perpetuating decades of violence and oppression, framing its policies as systemic and cruel. “What is happening in Gaza is apartheid, pure and simple. The genocide must end,” he said, aligning the EFF firmly with the Palestinian cause.
But Malema’s solidarity goes beyond Gaza. He also voiced robust support for Iran, portraying the country as a victim of ongoing Western imperialism. Defending Iran’s right to “defend itself by any means necessary,” Malema emphasized the legitimacy of Tehran’s response to U.S. and Israeli aggression.
“Western powers have long tried to dominate and destabilize sovereign nations. Iran is simply fighting back against this historic injustice,” Malema stated.
He warned that Israel and its allies must now be held accountable for the consequences of their actions, signaling a shift in how the EFF views global power dynamics.
Malema’s bold declarations underscore the party’s anti-imperialist rhetoric and growing interest in international solidarity with countries resisting Western influence. As tensions mount in the Middle East, his statements add a South African voice to the global debate on justice, sovereignty, and resistance.
