Clothing Brand and Foundation Take Action Against Podcaster MacG for βOffensiveβ Comments on Minnie Dlamini
Podcaster MacG is facing growing backlash after making controversial remarks about media personality Minnie Dlamini, prompting Somandla Clothing and the Nduzuzo Memela Foundation to announce plans to file a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

The two organizations have condemned MacG’s recent comments as offensive, harmful, and degrading to women, accusing him of using his platform irresponsibly and perpetuating toxic narratives in the public space.
In a joint statement, the organizations said, βFreedom of speech should never come at the expense of human dignity. Remarks that demean, objectify, or humiliate womenβespecially those in the public eyeβcontribute to a culture of misogyny and gender-based violence.β
The controversy erupted after a recent episode of MacGβs popular podcast, Podcast and Chill, where he allegedly made demeaning comments about Minnie Dlaminiβs character and career. Clips from the show went viral, sparking heated public debate and widespread criticism on social media.
The Nduzuzo Memela Foundation, which focuses on youth development and social justice, said it was compelled to act after receiving messages from concerned members of the public. Somandla Clothing, known for its advocacy around equality and community empowerment, echoed these concerns, calling for public figures to be held accountable.
The complaint to the SAHRC will argue that MacGβs remarks violated Minnie Dlaminiβs constitutional rights to dignity and equality and will call for a formal investigation and possible sanctions.
As calls grow for greater media responsibility, this case could set an important precedent in balancing freedom of expression with the protection of individual rightsβespecially in an era where social commentary is amplified online.
