Limpopoβs popular comedian, Livhuwani Madadzhe, better known as SABC Livhu, is facing new criminal charges that have resurfaced from his troubled past. On Monday, Madadzhe was arrested at the Thohoyandou High Court where he is currently on trial for the murder of his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela. This time, however, heβs facing charges of fraud for allegedly faking his mother’s death to claim insurance money.
Madadzhe, who was previously incarcerated for his wifeβs alleged murder, is now entangled in an even more complex web of deceit. He had allegedly used a fake death certificate and constructed a fake tombstone for his mother, Gladys Khomunala, to claim money from multiple insurance companies. Ironically, his mother, who is still alive, made the shocking discovery during a visit to the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office to apply for her pension grant.

In addition to the fake death scam, Madadzhe is also facing charges for defrauding a car rental company. He allegedly rented a BMW X3 from Avis, then falsely posed as a representative for both Avis and Hertz, offering vehicles for hire through his social media accounts. These fraudulent activities were part of an elaborate scheme that now sees him charged with theft, fraud, and even assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
These charges are not new for Madadzhe, who has a long history with the law. In 2017, he and his then-girlfriend were arrested in connection to the fake death claim but were later released after a bail payment of R5,000. However, Madadzheβs legal troubles continue to grow, with his trial for the murder of his wife, Lindelani, and two counts of fraud still ongoing. Her body was discovered in a pit toilet at their home in Thohoyandou, further deepening the scandal surrounding him.
The fraud case has been postponed to March 18, 2025, for a bail application, while his ongoing trial for the murder of Lindelani Nengovhela is set for March 17, 2025.
Madadzhe remains in custody as he faces multiple charges, including murder, fraud, assault, and defeating the ends of justice. His lawyer, Advocate Ntsako Hlongwane, confirmed his clientβs detention, stating that the comedian will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate Court next month.
As the legal proceedings continue, the comedian-turned-criminal faces an uncertain future, with his past catching up to him in a dramatic and public manner.
