Kuruman, Northern Cape β Over two months have passed since the shocking theft of three corpses β including a baby girl β from Motheo Wa Bophelo Funeral Parlour in Kuruman, and their whereabouts remain a chilling mystery.
The brazen theft, which occurred in the early hours of March 17, has left families in anguish and stunned the nation. According to authorities, two unidentified suspects broke into the mortuary, overpowered and blindfolded a security guard, and vanished with the bodies of two adult men and a baby girl.
Described by law enforcement as βunprecedented,β the crime has rocked the quiet town of Kuruman and sparked widespread concern and speculation.
A special task team, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock of the Northern Cape police, is currently investigating the case. A reward of R100,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the culprits and the safe recovery of the remains.
Despite tireless efforts, no major breakthroughs have been reported. The motive for the theft remains unknown, though public speculation has swirled around disturbing theories, including ritualistic practices or illegal organ trade.
