The South African justice community is in mourning following the tragic murder of community activist Pamela Mabini, who was shot dead on Friday in her car in the driveway of her home in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha. Mabini, a passionate supporter of victims, notably played a crucial role in assisting survivors in the high-profile Timothy Omotoso alleged rape and trafficking case.

Her lifeless body was discovered inside her white Chevrolet SS Lumina bakkie, leaving a community in shock and grief.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has strongly condemned the killing, expressing her deep sadness at the loss of a dedicated individual who worked tirelessly to support victims of crime. Kubayiβs spokesperson, Terrence Manase, emphasized that such acts of violence are unacceptable, especially when they target individuals committed to helping others within the justice system.

“The Minister strongly condemns this heinous act and the killing of anyone, particularly those who assist the courts and support victims of crime,” Manase said.
This tragic incident follows a disturbing trend, as just earlier this year, another witness was shot and killed outside the Lenasia Magistrateβs Court in Johannesburg while preparing to testify in a murder case.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has not yet provided details on potential suspects, but the brutal murder is being thoroughly investigated as the community and justice system await answers.
As the nation grapples with this loss, the death of Pamela Mabini serves as a reminder of the risks faced by individuals who stand up for justice and the ongoing challenges within the criminal justice system.
