The CEO of Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), Gabriel Maluleke, has been dismissed following allegations of corruption and misconduct. According to a statement from the Public Works Department, Maluleke was found guilty of dishonesty, financial misconduct, negligence, and violating the Public Funds Management Act.
Maluleke’s firing comes after a disciplinary hearing into his conduct, though he has yet to make any public comments regarding the decision. The department has made it clear that they are committed to rooting out corruption and ensuring accountability within the public sector.
Department spokesperson Emmanuel Mongwe emphasized the importance of the governmentβs mandate to serve the people and improve the economy. He reiterated that MEC Ernest Rachoene and the department are focused on delivering services without allowing any individual to undermine the government’s goals. Mongwe also mentioned that the department is taking further steps to rebuild the organization, including investigating allegations of maladministration.
Malulekeβs suspension in August, which preceded his dismissal, was aimed at allowing an investigation to proceed without interference. The RAL had stated at the time that the suspension would facilitate a thorough probe into the CEOβs conduct. With Maluleke now officially fired, the department is signaling its commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency in its operations.
