Cape Town was rocked by a high-profile hit-and-run crash on May 16, 2025, involving popular radio personality Khanya βKyeeziβ Siyengo and a luxury Mercedes Maybach driven by Michael Jamiu, a Nigerian national.
The incident unfolded when Jamiu allegedly ran a red light while under the influence of alcohol, slamming into Siyengoβs BMW 420i. The forceful collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.
In a brazen escape, Jamiu fled the scene on foot, abandoning not only his damaged Maybach but also his bag and passportβkey items now being used by authorities in their efforts to locate him.
While Siyengo thankfully suffered no serious physical injuries, he admitted to being deeply shaken by the traumatic event. In a public statement, the Good Hope FM presenter apologized to fans for missed appearances and requested privacy as he focuses on his emotional and mental recovery.
βIβm grateful to be alive. Right now, I need time to process what happened and heal,β Siyengo shared.
Police are currently pursuing Jamiu, who could face multiple charges, including drunk driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.
