🚨 Man Arrested for Threatening President Ramaphosa in Voice Note Scandal

A 28-year-old man from Germiston, Gauteng, has been arrested for allegedly sending threatening voice notes targeting President Cyril Ramaphosa, Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, and the CEO of a Cape Town-based company.

The arrest was carried out on May 23, 2025, by the elite Crimes Against The State (CATS) unit of the Hawks, following a rapid investigation triggered by a formal complaint from the CEO on May 12.

While the exact contents of the voice notes have not been made public, officials confirmed the threats were serious enough to warrant urgent law enforcement action.

The suspect, facing charges of intimidation, was apprehended in Germiston and is being transported to Cape Town to appear in court today, May 26.
