Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has sounded the alarm in Parliament, revealing that intelligence agencies have detected a potential coup attempt targeting South Africa’s government.
After presenting her department’s budget vote, Ntshavheni informed MPs that the nation’s security cluster—comprising all key safety agencies—is closely monitoring the threat and has implemented robust preventive strategies.
“We’ve identified a potential risk of a coup d’état. There are plans and systems in place to counter this and keep South Africans safe,” she stressed.
