A group of ten police officers, including members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) and Tsakane SAPS, have been released on R1,500 bail each following allegations of theft during a raid in Edenvale that has rocked public trust in law enforcement.
The officersβidentified as F.N. Dlamini, N.F. Sambane, M.H. Mabasa, E.Z. Dlalisa, T. Sidebi, T. Kgagara, Sergeant M. Mashala, and Constables T. Mokhabukhi, M.M. Mongalo, and T.N. Matsaneβappeared in the Germiston Magistratesβ Court, where their bail application went unopposed.
The charges relate to a June 4, 2025 operation at a shop in Edenvale, where officers reportedly seized R35,000 in cash, R150,000 worth of cigarettes, and boxes of Panado tabletsβyet only a single refuse bag was logged into the SAP13 exhibit register.
According to the shop owner, he was not present during the raid and only learned of it through his cashier. When he later arrived at the police station, he discovered that the vast majority of the seized goods had vanished without a trace.
With the spotlight now firmly on alleged corruption within the force, the case has been postponed to September 8, 2025, as investigations continue. The publicβand the justice systemβwill be watching closely.
