A 33-year-old man is set to appear in the Polokwane Magistrateβs Court today, Monday, 18 August 2025, after being arrested on the N1 for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
The black Kia Sonet, valued at around R400,000, was reportedly stolen earlier this month in Bramley, Gauteng. It was flagged when spotted speeding near a filling station along the N1 by Provincial Flying Squad officers, working in partnership with a private security company.
Upon intercepting the vehicle, police found it had been fitted with a false registration plate. The suspect was unable to provide valid ownership documents, leading to his immediate arrest.
Authorities praised the swift inter-agency response and confirmed the vehicle will be returned to its rightful owner as investigations continue.
The arrest forms part of an ongoing crackdown on vehicle theft syndicates operating across provinces, with police urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
