The officer was reportedly on official duty and escorted by another SAPS vehicle with its blue lights activated — a detail not visible in the footage circulating on social media. Despite this context, SAPS management maintains that the conduct was unacceptable.
“Even with the escort, this behaviour does not meet our operational or safety standards. An internal disciplinary process is under way,” said a SAPS spokesperson.
