In a powerful stride toward improving rural infrastructure and ensuring water security, Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina has officially handed over a newly completed pipeline in Kwa-Ximba, KwaZulu-Natal, promising reliable water access for 18 villages.
The four-kilometre pipeline, connected to the upgraded Kwa-Ximba Package Plant, is a game-changer for residents of Ward 1, many of whom have long struggled with inconsistent or inadequate water supply.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister Majodina emphasized the importance of equitable service delivery, calling the project a vital investment in the health, dignity, and development of the affected communities.
βThis pipeline is more than just infrastructure β it is about restoring basic human rights and improving the quality of life in rural areas,β Majodina said.
The Kwa-Ximba project forms part of a broader national effort to address water scarcity and accelerate infrastructure development in underserved regions, in line with governmentβs commitment to inclusive growth.
Local leaders and residents welcomed the development with gratitude and optimism, expressing hope that this marks the beginning of more sustained improvements in basic services.
With this pipeline now operational, thousands of households across 18 villages can expect clean, reliable water β a fundamental resource finally delivered with purpose and accountability.
