Swift police action led to the arrest of three suspects following a brazen card scam at a filling station ATM near Standerton on Friday, 18 July 2025. The suspects, aged between 33 and 47, are believed to be part of a criminal syndicate operating out of Daveyton.

The scam was reported just after 12:30 p.m., prompting immediate investigation. CCTV footage from the station quickly identified the suspects and their getaway vehicle. Acting on a tip-off from a local security company, police tracked the car during a routine patrol along the R39 between Morgenzon and Standerton.

The suspects attempted to flee, but their escape was cut short after a brief pursuit. Officers recovered multiple bank cards and impounded the vehicle allegedly used in the operation.

The three men are due to appear in the Standerton District Court on Monday, 21 July, facing charges related to card fraud and possession of suspected stolen property. Authorities are now probing possible connections to other ATM scams reported in the region, suggesting this may be just one piece of a wider criminal network.
