EFF leader Julius Malema has humorously claimed a unique milestone: being the first Black person to turn the Oval Office into a cinema.
The remark comes after former U.S. President Donald Trump, during a May 21, 2025 White House meeting, played videos showing Malema chanting the highly controversial “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” slogan at EFF rallies. Trump used these clips to bolster his disputed claims of a “white genocide” occurring in South Africa.
Malema’s quip highlights his defiant stance in the face of what he calls misrepresentation and political theatrics aimed at maligning the EFF and South Africa’s complex social realities.
“They turned my words into a movie—but I’m the one starring in it,” Malema joked, turning the moment to his political advantage.
