Fadiel Adams, founder of the National Coloured Congress, has sharply accused General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of deliberately misleading the public through a press conference he calls a “threat to the country.”
Adams alleges that Mkhwanazi’s move was a calculated preemptive tactic, hinting that National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola may be on the brink of arrest, stirring controversy within the South African Police Service.
Demanding urgent transparency, Adams has called on Mkhwanazi, Masemola, and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) to appear before Parliament’s police committee to explain their actions.
He questioned the true motives behind the press briefing and cautioned against allowing senior police officials to manipulate the parliamentary oversight process, insisting on full accountability.
Adams’ bold call for scrutiny highlights growing tensions within law enforcement and the urgent need for oversight amid ongoing police leadership turmoil.
