Walter Tshehlo, 29, appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court for his formal bail application following the gruesome murder of 21-year-old Onalenna Selebogo, a student at North-West University’s Mahikeng campus.
Selebogo was found stabbed multiple times in the neck on August 3, her body discovered wrapped in sheets inside a flat in central Rustenburg.
Tshehlo reportedly fled the scene after the murder but later surrendered to authorities. He now faces a charge of murder, though the motive remains unclear.
The chilling case has reignited outrage over gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa, where women and girls continue to face alarming levels of violence.
As the investigation continues, the country watches closely — demanding both justice for Onalenna and urgent action to tackle the broader crisis of GBV.
