MK Party MP Mzwanele Manyi has raised urgent calls in Parliament to ensure robust witness protection amid serious threats, warning emphatically: “We don’t want another Babita situation.” His reference points to past failures where witnesses were left vulnerable, undermining justice.
Manyi also pressed for immediate and increased funding to properly resource the ongoing criminal investigation and to equip police officers—including General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi—with specialised tools and modern technology critical for effective law enforcement.
Highlighting the need for results, he stressed that prosecution efforts must take precedence over costly inquiries lacking legal authority, urging that resources focus on securing convictions rather than endless investigations.
His appeal underscores a demand for stronger, smarter justice delivery and protection for those brave enough to come forward in sensitive cases.
