A second individual has been taken into custody in connection with the brutal shooting at Levisa Tavern in Pienaar, which claimed the lives of eight people. The 43-year-old suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, January 14, just hours after the first suspect, Bongani Nkosi, made his first appearance in court.
The horrific incident, which unfolded at the popular tavern, reportedly began as a dispute between a group of unknown assailants. What followed was a deadly shootout that left eight people dead and several others injured.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga police, the second suspect was arrested in Mbombela. During the arrest, law enforcement recovered firearms believed to belong to both the suspect and the victims.
The arrested individual faces serious charges, including eight counts of murder and possession of illegal firearms. Ndubane confirmed that the suspect will soon appear in court to answer to the charges.
