Pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng will return to court on Friday, 7 February, at the Palm Ridge Regional Court to face multiple charges, including kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault by threats. Mboro, alongside his security guard, Clement Baloyi, was arrested on 5 August 2024 after a viral video showed Mboro wielding machetes at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong, while Baloyi displayed a semi-automatic rifle. The duo is also accused of malicious damage to property, pointing a firearm, and possessing an unlicensed firearm.
Mboro, the leader of the Incredible Happenings Church, was granted R3,000 bail, while Baloyi was released with a warning. The case has drawn significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the incident, and Mboroβs court appearance on Friday will mark another step in the ongoing legal process.
In a separate case at Palm Ridge, South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan, along with CFO Gronie Hluyo and former journalist Trevor Neethling, faces serious allegations of fraud and theft. The trio is accused of misusing R1.3 million in SAFA funds to pay a PR firm to influence media coverage in Jordaan’s favor during a period of controversy. Jordaan and his co-accused are seeking to have the charges dropped, arguing that their arrest was unlawful.
Each of the accused in the SAFA case has been released on R20,000 bail, and they will appear again on Friday, 7 February, at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Ekurhuleni. These high-profile cases reflect ongoing legal battles that have captured the public’s attention.
