Five men, allegedly involved in drug dealing, found themselves in a high-speed chase with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) in Thembisa on Tuesday, February 4. The incident began when EMPD Specialised Services noticed a suspicious gold BMW at a filing station on Andrew Mapheto Drive. Four men were inside the car, while one man stood outside.

As the authorities approached, the men attempted to flee, leading to a chase that ended in Endulwini. During the pursuit, one suspect, carrying a sling bag, jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot. Officers soon apprehended the 31-year-old man, discovering he was carrying a troubling array of items.

The suspect was found with three 9mm firearms, three magazines, and eight rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, police discovered cannabis, ziplock bags containing a white substance, and four blank rounds in his possession. The suspect was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Thembisa Police Station, where the weapons and ammunition were seized.

The man will appear in the Thembisa Magistrates Court soon to face charges related to drug possession and firearms offenses.
