Dr. Irvin Khoza has been re-elected as the Chairman of the National Soccer League (NSL) for a further four-year term, continuing his leadership of South African football’s premier league. Khoza, who has led the PSL since 2003, was confirmed during the league’s annual general meeting held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. His re-election marks another chapter in his long and influential tenure, during which he has been a driving force behind the growth and development of the league.

Following his re-election, Khoza expressed his gratitude to the league members for their support and trust. He acknowledged the contributions of those who were not elected to the executive committee, emphasizing their competence and importance to the organization. β€œI want to express my appreciation for the members that did not make it [to the exco],” Khoza said. β€œThey were very competent members of the executive committee, and their services won’t be lost. They’ve cooperated in strategic committees because of the intellectual memory they have and the capacity they have in so many fields.”

Under Khoza’s leadership, the PSL has experienced significant growth, becoming one of Africa’s most commercially successful and professionally managed football leagues. He has been instrumental in securing lucrative sponsorship deals, expanding broadcasting rights, and elevating the standard of football played in the country. His focus on improving the league’s infrastructure, increasing youth development programs, and promoting local talent has left a lasting impact on South African football.

Khoza’s re-election comes at a critical time for South African football, as the PSL faces new challenges, including increasing competition from rival leagues and the ongoing development of its financial model. As a visionary leader, Khoza’s expertise and experience are invaluable as the PSL looks to continue its upward trajectory. With his continued leadership, South African football is poised to thrive in the years to come, both domestically and internationally.
