Murder accused Denise Hattingh is scheduled to appear in court on November 26, as the state has concluded its investigation into the case.

Murder-accused former Kempton Park hairdresser, Denise Hattingh, appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court on November 11 and 14, as the state prepares to move forward with its case. On November 11, her court proceedings were delayed when her attorney was called away, prompting a postponement to November 14. However, the following court date was also marred by logistical issues, as transportation delays resulted in Hattingh and other female inmates arriving after lunch.

During the November 14 appearance, the prosecution informed the court that it had finalised its investigation into the case. The state confirmed its intention to proceed with charges of premeditated murder against Hattingh, who is accused of killing 29-year-old Markus Greeff on May 15 at a property on West Street in Pomona. The prosecution reiterated its stance on the severity of the charges, highlighting the premeditated nature of the alleged crime.

In response, Hattingh’s defence team requested that the court consider a lesser charge, though this was met with opposition from the prosecution. Hattingh, who was arrested the day after Greeff’s death, has been in custody since May 16, following a police-issued lookout for her in connection with the murder.

As the legal proceedings continue, the court will review the merits of the charges, and further hearings are expected as both sides prepare for trial.
