A series of ATM bombings at the Ga-Rankuwa City Mall in Tshwane has left seven machines out of service, disrupting essential banking services for local residents. The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, forcing the mallβs 68,000-strong community to seek alternative locations for their shopping and banking needs.

The Ga-Rankuwa City Mall, located in Zone 15, is the primary retail hub in the area, and this bombing has caused significant inconvenience. A local waitress, who lives nearby, described the explosion as loud and intense. She instantly recognized that the mall had been targeted, and the shock of the incident has stayed with her.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the ongoing investigation into the attack. She reported that four ATMs were completely bombed, with three others suffering damage. The suspects, believed to be eight armed individuals, fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the police have yet to make any arrests.
As the investigation unfolds, residents and local businesses are left grappling with the aftermath. The mall, a vital part of the community, is now focused on recovering from the attack while the police continue their efforts to apprehend those responsible for this brazen act of crime.
