Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, leader of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), is mourning the tragic loss of his daughter, Olga Meshoe-Washington, who passed away at the age of 42 on Monday, January 6, 2024. Olga, who had been living in the United States, died after a brief but intense battle with lupus, a disease she was diagnosed with only a few weeks prior.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her husband, Joshua David Washington, who detailed the sudden turn of events. Olga collapsed at Newark Airport on December 26, 2023, while returning home. Joshua recalled how, in a stroke of luck, his brother-in-law was traveling with her and immediately took action to ensure Olga received medical attention. Joshua quickly flew from Charlotte to be by her side in the ICU, where she remained in stable condition for a brief time. Unfortunately, Olgaβs condition worsened, and she passed away just before a scheduled minor surgery on January 7, 2024.
In a heartfelt message, Joshua shared how he spent the final moments with his wife, sleeping by her side and speaking to her just half an hour before she passed. βShe always talked about the day when she would finally hear the applause of Heaven for the life she lived. That day is today,β he said, expressing his deep sorrow and love for her.
The Meshoe family has been left devastated by this loss. A family spokesperson, Joshua Meshoe, spoke on behalf of the family, thanking friends, supporters, and the public for their prayers during Olga’s illness. βWe are terribly heartbroken, but we are comforted to know that she is in a much better place now,β he said. The family has requested privacy during this painful time of mourning.
This loss comes less than a year after the death of Reverend Meshoeβs wife, Lydia Meshoe, who passed away in 2023. The Meshoe family is facing an incredibly difficult time, but they continue to find solace in their faith and the love of those around them.
