Glenrose Xaba, the Athletics Gauteng North athlete, found herself at a loss for words when it came to expressing the immense impact her coaches, Caster and Violet Semenya, had on her remarkable season.
At the SPAR Grand Prix Awards, held at Emperors Palace on November 5, Xaba was awarded nearly half a million rand in prize money, along with the keys to a brand-new car, after clinching victory in the prestigious SPAR Women’s Challenge series.
The quiet yet determined athlete reflected on her journey, acknowledging the vital role the Semenyas played in her triumphant return to the sport. After enduring three challenging years marred by injuries, Xaba credited her coaches for their unwavering support and guidance, which were instrumental in her successful comeback.
