A Thembisa artist has dropped a music video following the viral success of his hit song.

Vusi Reshumela Qwabe (29), an emerging Amapiano artist from Thembisa, began his musical journey in 2022 with a vision to elevate his brand, Yooh Kwenzakalani. Originally conceived as a standalone concept, the brand soon evolved as Qwabe realised that music could serve as a powerful tool to boost his presence in the highly competitive industry.

Drawing inspiration from his familyβ€”particularly his parentsβ€”and close friends, Qwabe credits their unwavering support for keeping him motivated. β€œI’ve always had people asking when I would release music, and that encouragement kept me going,” he shared. The positive reception of his recent track, which sparked duets across social media, only further fueled his determination to pursue music full time.

In 2023, Qwabe’s career gained significant momentum when he performed on the popular TV show Daily Thetha. The experience was a major milestone, described by Qwabe as a dream come true. The exposure allowed him to connect with a broader audience and brought his music to the forefront of the Amapiano scene.

Despite his success, Qwabe is aware of the challenges that come with being an emerging artist. He acknowledged the struggle of low compensation from streaming platforms, especially for new musicians with limited streams. β€œNot everyone will like your music. So, create your own style, market your songs on social media, and take every gig offered. Marketing is key. No one will call you if you are not promoting your work,” he advised.

In 2023, Qwabe’s career continued to thrive, with the release of a music video for his latest single, featuring dancers from the Endulwini Crew and fellow artist Sipho. The video, available on YouTube under Yooh Kwenzakalani, further solidified his place in the industry. By 2024, he had expanded his reach, marketing his music on platforms like Thuthuka FM and reaching new audiences. Reflecting on his journey, Qwabe urged aspiring artists to never doubt their dreams. “Push yourself until you achieve what you wish for,” he said.
