Idols SA season 13 runner-up Mthokozisi Ndaba is making waves in the amapiano music scene. The 32-year-old from KwaMashu, Durban, has teamed up with Thato TT for a new amapiano track, iThemba Lami, produced by Neasy Beatz. The love song, which celebrates deep connections between lovers, will be released on Valentine’s Day, 14 February, to coincide with the spirit of love.
The collaboration comes after a long-standing partnership between Mthokozisi and Let’s Rock U (real name Tumelo Mokoka), who have worked together since Mthokozisi’s time on Idols SA in 2017. Tumelo, from Protea Glen in Soweto, shares that the song is meant to inspire couples to express their love, especially during the month of February.
Though Mthokozisi is known for his Afro-gospel and Afrosoul music, he’s excited to explore amapiano while maintaining his roots in gospel. He explained that iThemba Lami is a way to honor his fiancée, Nandipha Sefoloko, while showcasing the versatility of his musical talents.
This project marks a new chapter in Mthokozisi’s career, demonstrating his growth as an artist and his ability to cross genres. He is thrilled with the opportunity to experiment with amapiano and looks forward to future collaborations that highlight his multifaceted approach to music.
