Renowned musician Dr Malinga and social media sensation Tsekeleke have been at odds over a R100,000 donation, sparking a heated debate on social media. The funds, donated by businessman Morgan Mohlala, were deposited into Malinga’s company account to assist Tsekeleke. However, Tsekeleke accused Malinga of misusing the money, prompting a wave of public speculation.
Malinga, known for his candid personality, responded with a video on Facebook explaining his actions. He revealed that the funds were intended to renovate Tsekeleke’s family home and improve their living conditions. The video also showed the dire state of Tsekeleke’s old bed and home, emphasizing the urgent need for refurbishments. “I’m a responsible man, a father of six, and a husband. People need to understand the intent behind this money,” Malinga said.
According to Malinga, the funds would be used to purchase building materials, with detailed accounting provided to ensure transparency. He dismissed the allegations, asserting that some critics had ulterior motives.
Despite the conflict, Dr Malinga kept his promise. Together with Tsekeleke’s mother, Maria Tholo, he surprised the artist with a refurbished home, complete with new furniture and a king-size bed. The emotional reveal, captured on video, showed Tsekeleke overcome with gratitude, hugging Malinga repeatedly and expressing his heartfelt thanks.
The gesture also included R10,000 cash for Tsekeleke and additional funds for his girlfriend, Black Cat, from the remaining R80,000. Malinga highlighted that the transformation was more than material—it was about ensuring Tsekeleke and his family could live with dignity.
“Despite our disagreements, my relationship with Tsekeleke remains strong,” Malinga said. “This was never about taking; it was about giving and protecting him from those who may exploit him.”
Malinga’s actions have turned a heated dispute into a moment of joy and restoration, proving that even amidst controversy, compassion and accountability can prevail.
