Chidinma Adetshina, who made history as Nigeria’s first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, has announced that she will be stepping away from competitive pageantry after completing her reign as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania. Her remarkable achievement marked Nigeria’s highest-ever placement in the Miss Universe competition, solidifying her as a trailblazer in the world of beauty and fashion.
In a recent statement, Adetshina clarified her earlier comments about moving away from pageantry, which sparked some confusion among fans and the media. She explained that while she plans to focus on her education and personal growth, her departure from pageantry is not final. “I want to put pageantry aside for now and focus more on my education and establishing who Chidinma is,” she said. “I want to delve into runway modeling, acting, and explore many other areas. There are so many things I would like to try and see where my potential can take me.”
While her decision to shift focus to other career pursuits has garnered attention, Adetshina emphasized that her choice will come into effect only after her current reign as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania ends. “Just to give clarity: When I said ‘it’s the end of the road for pageantry,’ I meant that I’ve done so well and left on a high note,” she explained. “I don’t think there is any need for me to do any other pageants after this. However, this decision will come into play after my reign.”
