Rapper and content creator Thato Joseph Mashifane, known for his skits with Sis Maria, had sometimes used his car to shoot content. He pleaded for a lifeline after missing three installments on his VW Polo, asking fans to donate to save the car, which was at risk of being repossessed
Thato had reached out to his fans after falling behind on three months of car payments. He took to social media, asking his followers and supporters for assistance to raise R26 000 needed to cover the arrears, including a collector’s fee and storage. “I would not normally do this, but I needed help,” he said.
He warned that failing to pay the debt by 5 April could lead to the car being repossessed and sold at auction. Thato explained that he had tried saving up and even asked for assistance from a company he had previously worked with on a campaign, but was unsuccessful. “My balance was R93 000, and I only needed R26 000 to bail it out before 5 April, then I would continue to pay monthly,” he said. “I did not post when I bought the car because I don’t like sharing such things on social media, but I posted now because I was losing the car due to non-payment for three months.”
