A woman in Delft, Cape Town, managed to survive a frightening incident on Friday, 3 January, by pretending to be unharmed after her partner and daughter were tragically injured. The incident occurred around 10:30 pm at Nata Court in Leiden, when unknown individuals entered the home and confronted the family.

According to reports, the assailants broke into the house by damaging a window and using it to gain entry. Inside, they interacted with the family and, unfortunately, both the 42-year-old father and his 19-year-old daughter were injured. The mother, aged 40, cleverly protected herself by staying still and pretending to be unaffected, which allowed her to avoid harm as the individuals left the scene.

Jacky Ockhuizen, spokesperson for the Delft Community Policing Forum, explained that the father and daughter were found at the scene. “The mother survived because she remained calm and played dead, which kept her safe while the situation unfolded,” Ockhuizen said.

Delft police confirmed the event, noting that officers responded promptly to the scene. Sergeant Wesley Twigg emphasized that an investigation is underway, with the case being treated as a serious matter. He also encouraged anyone with information to come forward.

Authorities are asking the public to provide any relevant details that could assist the investigation. Those with information are urged to contact CrimeStop at 08600 10111. As the investigation continues, the community remains focused on understanding what led to this distressing event.
