In a surprise move, Magesi FC has announced the appointment of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Papi Zothwane, as their new head coach on an interim basis. This comes after the resignation of Clinton Larsen, who stepped down following the team’s loss in the Carling Cup final.

Zothwane, who previously worked as Larsen’s assistant coach, will take the reins until the end of the season. Jacky Ledwaba has been appointed as his assistant coach.

The Limpopo-based club confirmed the appointment on their Twitter page, stating, “Papi Zothwane has been appointed head coach on an interim basis. Coach Jacky Ledwaba will assist him.”

Football fans have taken to social media to react to the news, with some wishing Zothwane luck in his new role. KokwaniJajani joked, “His first job is to beat Orlando Pirates.” HappyTshwale commented, “Orlando Pirates has dealt with one of the interim coaches today, and the next one is Papi Zothwane.” Khobi136 wrote, “We wish him all the best of luck… He needs to quickly turn the club’s fortune.”

Will Zothwane be able to turn things around for Magesi FC? Only time will tell.
