Umkhokha: The Curse actor Kini Shandu, who plays Ndlovu, is officially off the market after marrying his longtime love, Andile Khanyile, in a beautiful traditional ceremony on Sunday, 15 December. The wedding, held at Kiniβs home in Gingindlovu, KZN, was a stunning blend of Zulu and Shembe traditions, with guests enjoying vibrant singing, dancing, and the sound of traditional drums and horns.
The couple had previously tied the knot during a Shembe Church gathering in July at Ebuhleni, north of Durban. Kini, 39, who is also a businessman and presenter, shared his excitement about the special day, saying, βIβm officially married now, and Iβm grateful to everyone who attended. But my most important guest was my wife, and she will be with me forever.β
He also expressed how important their spiritual connection was in their union. βOur Shembe church leader, Inkosi Unyazi, told us that our wives are in the church, which is why I chose her,β Kini explained. The couple’s love story continued to unfold with Kini paying lobola for Andile earlier this year, in April 2023, followed by a beautiful umkhehlo (traditional engagement ceremony).
In December, they held the umembeso (gift exchange ceremony) at Andileβs home in Nongoma, northern KZN, further celebrating their commitment to one another. Kini and Andileβs wedding marks the start of their lifelong journey together, filled with love and deep cultural tradition.
