TikTok star Seemah Mangolwane has earned a major milestone in her career, winning the Emerging Social Media Personality of the Year award at the 2024 SA Social Media Awards (SASMAs). The victory marks a significant moment for the content creator, who has garnered popularity for her hilarious TikTok skits using trending sounds. Seemah’s recognition as an award-winning creator highlights her resilience and growth in a competitive industry. In an Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude, saying, β€œI just wanna say thank you to everyone that voted for me. I’m finally an award-winning content creator! As I SHOULD!”

Seemah’s journey has not been without its challenges, and she acknowledged the strength and resilience it took to overcome adversity, reflecting on how she has handled criticism and turned difficulties into triumphs. Fans and fellow content creators alike showered her with congratulatory messages, with Amapiano artist Mawhoo, content creator Moghelingz, and influencer Lasizwe Dambuza all expressing their support. Seemah’s ability to navigate negativity and come out on top is a testament to her perseverance and growing influence in the digital space.

However, Seemah’s success has also reignited drama with her former friend, Cyan Boujee, who was embroiled in controversy earlier this month. Cyan faced significant backlash after she leaked Seemah’s personal information on her Instagram stories, including revealing that Seemah’s bank account had under R200. The incident sparked outrage among social media users, with many defending Seemah and pointing out that there is no shame in having a low bank balance.

X users, including @foreverdimps and @hurricane_liya, were quick to criticize Cyan, accusing her of using Seemah’s vulnerability for clout. “Seemah didn’t say anything bad about this girl for her to crash out like this,” one user wrote, while another pointed out that the real embarrassment was Cyan’s actions, saying, β€œWhat’s embarrassing here is Cyan exposing herself for purposefully staying logged in and snooping through Seemah’s emails for TWO YEARS.”

Seemah has embraced her victory with pride, sharing celebratory TikTok skits featuring her award. Her followers took the opportunity to subtly throw shade at Cyan, with one TikTok user commenting, β€œSesi Cyan was found shaking, anyway congratulations Seemah.” Another user posted, β€œiR170 ka Seemah bheka iyenzani (Look at what Seemah’s R170 is doing). Congratulations mama,” a reference to the bank balance drama that has since taken a backseat to Seemah’s triumph.
