A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday, 9 November, in Mamelodi East, Tshwane, when a 35-year-old man was shot and killed while playing a game of dice. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Tsamaya Road, between Mams Mall and Kit Kat Supermarket. According to Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk of Tshwane District Police, the victim had been playing dice with a witness when he received a phone call, stating he needed to address an issue before returning.
As the victim approached his vehicle, a black Suzuki Swift with unknown registration plates stopped behind him. Four masked men exited the vehicle and opened fire on the victim, who was struck by multiple gunshots. The witness, who took cover, later found the man lying unresponsive in a pool of blood with six gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to call for an ambulance, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tshwane police are investigating the murder, and several spent cartridges and projectile fragments were recovered from the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward, assuring confidentiality for all tips.
